Brooklyn Signature Mattress Review: Ranked in the top 3 for bounce and no off-gassing. (Click here to see all the ANS Best Mattress Award Winners)

The Brooklyn Signature Mattress has many huge positives. To begin with, the mattress is a great combination of coils and gel infused foams. Second, there are three comfort levels – the Soft, the Medium, and the Firm. All three mattresses provide a sleeper an Awesome Night Sleep and additional comfort with a cover of quilted cotton, a top layer of hyper-elastic TitanFlex™ foam, and a transition layer of high density TitanFlex™ foam. The hyper-elastic TitanFlex™ foam, another enormous positive, features immediate response technology that adjusts to a sleeper’s every move.

Other awesome characteristics the Signature has include good bounce, limited off-gassing, and the fact that they manufacture their own mattresses. Unlike many of its competitors, Brooklyn Bedding can provide better quality products at a similar price, because by owning and operating their own factory, they can keep costs down. Additional strong points include great scores in all the essential categories like value, comfort, support, quality, and coolness.  The mattress also did well with all types of sleepers (side, back, stomach, and large people) and with other attributes including little motion transfer, the right amount of sinkage, and decent edge support.

Please see below a summary of all positives and negatives, a company created snippet and snapshot, general information, and finally ratings using the 20 major considerations.

Top 20 ConsiderationsRatingDetail
1Good Value?95.51%The Brooklyn Signature mattress is a mattress made with low overhead, high quality, superb comfort, and remarkable cooling – all at a great price. This hybrid mattress now combines its distinguished, comfortable and cool premium TitanFlex™ foam with their new individually pocketed springs at a price in-line with its competitors. Unlike many of its competitors, Brooklyn Bedding can provide better quality products at a similar price, because by owning and operating their own factory, they can keep costs down.
2Comfortable?95.24%Brooklyn Signature mattresses have three different firmness levels. The Soft mattress, a 5 or 6 on a scale from 1 (soft) to 10 (firm), provides a good amount of contouring, a moderate hug, and great pressure point relief. The Medium, a 6 or 7 in firmness, offers less sinkage, a great mix between softness and support, and a feeling of being on top of the mattress. Lastly, the Firm mattress, a 7 or 8, has no sinkage, a greater feeling of support, and a sensation of being on a flat surface. All three mattresses provide a sleeper an Awesome Night Sleep and additional comfort with a cover of quilted cotton, a top layer of hyper-elastic TitanFlex™ foam, and a transition layer of high density TitanFlex™ foam. The patented, hyper-elastic TitanFlex™ foam features immediate response technology that adjusts to a sleeper’s every move, and the TitanFlex™ high density foam creates both deep compression support and body contouring. If sleepers are not satisfied with the comfort of these mattresses, they can call customer service after 30 days and receive a free topper to make the mattress feel softer without sacrificing support. These toppers are made of high quality foam and also help increase pressure point relief.
3Supportive?95.14%The top two layers have a track record of providing great support. The 2″ top layer of TitaniumGel™ infused TitanFlex™ Foam provides greater stability and the 2″ second layer of TitanFlex™ high density foam promotes deep compression support. The new bottom support layer of 6″ Ascension Pocketed Coils, according to Brooklyn Bedding, helps maintain the structural integrity of the mattress. The over 1,000 pocketed coils move independently, yet respond collectively to any movement, giving the sleeper a great amount of support.
4Durable / Quality Built?95.34%
Quality can be seen in how Brooklyn Bedding manufactures its products and in the products themselves. Unlike many other online mattress companies, Brooklyn Bedding owns the factory. Thus they own the manufacturing process and can better scrutinize processes, materials, designs, expenses, and specifications. Brooklyn Bedding also has a history of constructing quality and durable products. For example, their TitaniumGel™ promotes cooling, is anti-bacterial, and has remarkable stability. Also, their TitanFlex™ foams are the most durable foams in the industry, contain immediate response technology, and have the highest material integrity to minimize body impressions and maximize restorative properties. Lastly, their pocketed coils are new, so their durability is unknown. But rest assured, the coils and foams are meant to last. The mattress is backed by a 10-year, no hassle warranty. Moreover, the Company makes special mention on their website that their Research & Development Team stays on top of cutting edge technology by advancing their industry expertise and knowledge in order to bring to life mattresses and products that are engineered for the dreamer in all of us.
5Sleep Cool?94.96%Brooklyn Bed’s patented TitaniumGel™ promotes staying cool and relishing in an Awesome Night Sleep. Infused in the top layer of TitanFlex™ Foam, the TitaniumGel™ pulls heat away from the body, allows for better airflow, and keeps the body cool throughout the night. Additionally, the TitanFlex™ Foam has an open-cell structure that wicks moisture from the body and the Ascension Pocketed Coil system is designed to allow greater airflow between the springs.
6Warranty? 94.33%Comparable to competitors, this mattress has a full 10-year hassle free warranty that covers any defects or body impressions that measure 1″ or more.
7Return Policy?96.74%Brooklyn Bedding offers a no fee, 100% money back trial period of 120 nights. They do require that customers try the new mattress for at least 30 days before making a return. This gives them enough time to properly adjust to the new mattress. Customers may need to donate their mattress to a local charity and get a receipt in order to get a refund.
8Customer Service?93.95%Appears that Brooklyn Bedding does not emphasize customer service the way other on-line mattress companies do. Even so, their customer service seems to be above average.
9Good Reputation?95.01%The Parent Company of Brooklyn Bedding, R&S Mattress, began in 1995, and Brooklyn Bedding began 14 years later in 2009. A family run business, the Company was a pioneer with the bed in a box concept. Known for their innovation, they actually manufacture their own mattresses, unlike many of their on-line competitors. Because the Brooklyn Signature Mattress just changed its support layer from foam to coils, it is too early to get a read on owner satisfaction. However, based on the previous Signature and other Brooklyn Bedding products, the Company has abundant positive reviews and strong ratings. Unique in the fact that they also have retail stores, the Company has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau.
10Socially Good?94.81%Brooklyn Bedding guarantees that they use the safest materials in the mattress industry. Their foam is CertiPur Certified and they do not use chemical fire sprays or chemical retardants in their mattresses. They do use a top-quality, all natural retardant fabric made of a non-woven silica-rayon-polyester-cotton blend. In addition to donating any mattresses that are returned to local charities, Brooklyn Bedding gives back to the community by donating to programs such as the First Down Fund and the Arizona’s Children Association.
11Motion Transfer / No Sinkage?94.71%Brooklyn Signature mattresses do pretty well at keeping motion transfer to a minimum. Although the TitanFlex™ foam features immediate response technology, it also helps keep one sleeper’s movements from bothering the other. The 6″ of Ascension Pocketed Coils also give individuals exceptional reactivity to any movements in their sleep. Additionally, these 1,024 individually pocketed coils do well at preventing sinkage.
12Edge Support?92.59%With the previous all foam Brooklyn Signature mattress, some sleepers complained of inadequate edge support. With the new design where springs now make up the foundational layer, edge support should be improved.
13Bouncy?95.58%The 6″ Ascension Pocketed Coils provide a good amount of bounce. Additionally, the TitanFlex foam offers more bounce and airflow compared to memory foam mattresses and mattresses made out of different types of poly foam.
14Noisy?95.98%Like other innerspring mattresses, the Brooklyn Signature will likely be noisier than its memory foam competitors. Two layers of foam cushioning above will undoubtedly not completely eliminate the potential noise the coils could make.
15Off-Gassing?95.80%For the most part, off-gassing was not a problem with the previous all foam mattress. With the addition of coils instead of foam on the bottom layer, and no changes to the upper two layers, the mattress should continue to perform well in this area.
16Easy to Handle / Break In / Maintain?94.22%After unboxing the Brooklyn Signature mattress, a sleeper should wait 3 to 5 hours before laying on it. Any natural odor will dissipate the first day and the break in time is 30 to 45 nights for the sleeper’s body to adjust to the new mattress, and for the mattress to reach full aeration and its optimal softness. The mattress should not be flipped, but rotated from head to foot every 6 to 8 months. The rotation helps evenly distribute weight across the bed. If spills or stains are anticipated on the mattress, Brooklyn Bedding recommends investing in a mattress protector which is easily washable. Nevertheless, if the cover needs to be washed, it should be spot cleaned with a mild detergent, gently dabbing the cover instead of rubbing it. Moving the mattress may be difficult as it is heavier than competitor’s and has no handles.
Sleeper Type:
17Good for Backs?95.72%Adequate support and superb conforming ability will give many sleepers relief from back pain. Sleepers that sleep on their backs will likely appreciate the Medium mattress for its moderate firmness, even distribution, and balance between contouring and support.
18Good for Side Sleep?95.27%Side sleepers will enjoy the Soft mattress. They will get an Awesome Night Sleep because this mattress is not quite so firm, offers a nice hug, and may relieve pressure points.
19Good for Stomach Sleep?94.83%The Firm mattress is the best choice for stomach sleepers. Besides offering sleepers a very firm option, they will favor the very little sinkage, the additional lumbar support, and the smoother, flatter surface for sleeping.
20Good for Larger Sleepers?95.37%While larger people usually prefer a thicker mattress than the 10″ that the Brooklyn Signature offers, they will like the steel coil support system. They will prefer the Medium or Firm mattress and also appreciate the durability and density of the TitanFlex™ Foam.
