Tuft & Needle Mattress Review

Tuft & Needle Mattress Review: Ranked #1 for easy to maintain and in the top 3 for customer service. (Click here to see all the ANS Best Mattress Award Winners)

The best selling point for the Tuft & Needle Mattress is its low price. At $575 for a queen mattress, very few competitors can even come close. Though not a luxury mattress, their mattress is thoughtfully crafted with decent support, comfort, pressure relief, and breathability – all at a great price. Another huge positive for the T&N Mattress is the T&N Adaptive Foam. Using customer’s feedback, the Company engineered this new foam that has the benefits of memory foam and latex, but not their drawbacks.

Another strong point T&N has is their great reputation. The Company has high customer satisfaction and is becoming known for having a solid mattress at a great price point. Other areas where T&N did well include their customer service and having a mattress that is easy to move. Other areas where the mattress ranked high include in the essential areas of having a good warranty and trial period. T&N also did fine with all types of sleepers, whether side, stomach or back and with limited off-gassing and being socially good.

Tuft & Needle Mattress Review

Snippet:

Tuft & Needle, a Phoenix-based mattress company, is leading the revolution against mattress markups, poor customer service, and inferior products by creating exceptional, honestly-priced products, and redefining the purchasing experience.

Snapshot:

When You’re Comfortable, You Sleep—It’s That Simple. We built our mattress with only the features people care about.

Pressure Relief – We created our T&N Adaptive® foam to feel comfortable and provide great pressure relief without feeling too soft or like Quicksand.

Support – Without support, a mattress may only be comfortable for a few hours. Our 7-inch support layer provides the ideal base for a full night’s sleep.

Cool Sleeping – In addition to the heat wicking graphite and cooling gel in our T&N Adaptive® foam, our cover is extremely breathable to keep you cool.

Soft Without The Sink:

The Tuft & Needle Mattress is soft and comfy while still being bouncy and supportive.

T&N ADAPTIVE® FOAM -We’ve engineered a new foam based purely
on customer feedback. It captures the best benefits of memory foam and latex while leaving their negative attributes behind.

IDEAL SUPPORT – Our foam is ideal for sleepers of any size or weight — and this is what makes it special. The more pressure you put on it, the more
it reacts to support you.

SUPPORTIVE BASE LAYER – Our custom T&N Adaptive® Foam is paired with a high quality support layer that forms
the perfect foundation for our mattress.

Top 20 ConsiderationsRatingDetail
Essentials:
1Good Value?94.04%Strong value. Though not a luxury mattress, it is thoughtfully crafted with ideal support, comfort, pressure relief, and breathability – all at a great price. One of the lowest priced mattresses in the industry.
2Comfortable?91.72%Very comfortable, cool mattress that offers great support and an adaptive feel. Even though this mattress is on the firmer side, it conforms well to a sleeper’s body, making for well-distributed pressure-point relief. Does not have that soft, plushy, pillow top feel or that hug that some people prefer.
3Supportive?92.22%Due to the Tuft & Needle mattress’s high-density adaptive foam and above-average firmness, support is more than adequate. Top layer of adaptive foam, a Tuft & Needle proprietary foam layer, gives support to the sleeper while conforming to his or her body. As the sleeper applies more pressure, the foam provides more resistance, and the spine stays straight. Even so, their mattress is only 10″, compared to some competitors who have thicker mattresses.
4Durable / Quality Built?91.70%
Foam layers are high quality and high performance that combined give the sleeper support, pressure relief, and breathability. Due to the use of foam that has high density and high resiliance, the estimated lifespan is more than the average 5 to 10 years. Tuft & Needle is constantly making revisions to its handcrafted mattress. Thus, the product is even better than it was a year ago.
5Sleep Cool?93.31%Very little heat retention. Like latex, this mattress is cool and breathable. Tuft & Needle’s top layer of aerated Adaptive foam combined with its uniquely breathable cover helps give the mattress great airflow that disperses heat outward and provides a cool night’s sleep. Additionally, because the glue between foam layers acts as a partial barrier to aeration, and this mattress has only two layers, there is more air flow.
6Warranty? 94.51%10 year full-replacement, non-prorated warranty that is honored by company.
7Return Policy?95.87%100 day, no-fee, no-risk, full-money-back trial. If returning mattress, no preparation is necessary. The buyer does not have to wait before returning the mattress.
Company:
8Customer Service?96.20%Excellent customer service.
9Good Reputation?96.81%Manufactured in the USA. Highly rated mattress. In business since 2012. Pioneered the disruption of the mattress industry. Even so, Tuft & Needle has made many improvements to its product. Good owner satisfaction, but some amount of overselling done. Most specifications revealed on their website and a BBB rating of A+. Tuft & Needle states on their website that 95% of their customers keep their mattress.
10Socially Good?95.81%Per the T&N website, they believe everyone deserves a good education, a clean community and a great night’s sleep. Since the start of Tuft & Needle, they have intentionally made being socially good the heartbeat of their company. Tuft & Needle donates to schools and homeless shelters. Returned mattresses are also donated. Products are CertiPUR-US and Green Guard certified. Foam is poured and cut in the USA.
Attributes:
11Motion Transfer / No Sinkage?92.68%Pretty good at absorbing movements – but more disturbance than some memory foam mattresses have. Not difficult to move on the mattress and get up from it. Great weight distribution and medium to firm mattress makes for little sinkage. Comfort and support of a latex mattress with little sinkage like a memory foam mattress. Designed for the sleeper to stay on top of the mattress rather than sinking in.
12Edge Support?91.01%Firmness gives better edge support than other foam mattresses. Even so, for some people there may not be enough support on the far edges for sleeping or sitting. This is especially true for larger people.
13Bouncy?93.70%Some bounce without the sinking quicksand feel.
14Noisy?96.17%As is common with most foam mattresses, Tuft & Needle is silent.
15Off-Gassing?93.80%Very little unpleasant initial odor.
16Easy to Handle / Break In / Maintain?96.22%Takes about two weeks to break-in. Lighter weight makes mattress easier to move than most, but more likely to move off base. No Side Straps to aid in moving. Rotating the mattress from head to foot should be done a couple times per year. T&Nrecommends that sleepers spot clean any stains on the cover with a mild detergent and water.
Sleeper Type:
17Good for Backs?95.36%Like memory foam, the Tuft & Needle mattress offers great distributed support and pressure-point relief that helps relieve back pain. Above average firmness gives good support for back sleepers.
18Good for Side Sleep?94.77%Some sleepers report excessive firmness. This is especially true for light-weight and side sleepers. A mattress topper may help soften the bed.
19Good for Stomach Sleep?95.33%Medium to firm mattress is good for most stomach sleepers.
20Good for Larger Sleepers?93.05%Firmer mattress appeals to heavier and larger people. However, larger people will not love that it is thinner, has lighter weight, and lower foam density.
